The Creekmore Law Firm PC is pleased to have Katie Horvath, our XDL Group partner, taking up residency with us in Blacksburg, Virginia to offer patent prosecution, analysis and guidance to our clients.
Katie graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Industrial & Operations Engineering in 1995 and obtained her law degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1998. Katie is registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
Since law school, Katie has been fully immersed in the rapidly evolving technology world, working her way from Silicon Valley to Microsoft Corporation, where she managed Microsoft’s patent litigation. She has appeared in numerous intellectual property cases across the country and has advised top level management ranging from start-ups to blue chip companies on complex patent matters.
To say that Katie focuses just on patent prosecution and litigation really understates the skills and opportunities she brings to the Blacksburg technology community. Katie is well-versed in providing more global strategic direction for patent portfolio management, assisting clients with legal and business strategies to protect and enforce intellectual property rights for their innovations and technologies. Katie’s expertise extends from patent analysis for infringement litigation and validity considerations to more forward-thinking corporate patenting and licensing programs, both in the United States and abroad. Together with the entrepreneurial experience Tyson Daniel brings to the table, and the international licensing experience Keith Finch brings from his decade in Japan, Katie’s presence in Blacksburg will transform the quality, level and extent of patent related services our Firm can offer our technology driven clients.
Having grown up on Lake Michigan, Katie is an avid sailor, competing in high profile regattas around the country. Katie has a 5-year-old daughter named Elayna.
