iOS Mobile Software Engineering Training for Working Professionals

Given my concern over the shortage of mobile application developers in my locale, I was delighted to receive this news from Osman Balci, Ph.D.:

If you would like to train or retrain your software engineers in iOS software development, I'm teaching a 5-day mobile software engineering course for working professionals in southwest Virginia through Virginia Tech's Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) Program.

The course - iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) Mobile Software Engineering - will be offered June 27-July 1, 2011 in Blacksburg, Virginia and is the condensed version of my semester long course iOS Software Engineering.

iOS Mobile Software Engineering

The objective of this mobile software engineering course is to teach participants how to develop software that runs on the iOS (iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch) mobile devices (handheld computers). The classes are taught using the active learning approach in a hands-on, show-and-tell manner. Computers are provided for training and each student is required to use a MacBook Pro or iMac. The course provides more than a dozen tutorial software applications (apps), five assignment apps, and two exam apps, all developed by the instructor. All of the course materials are provided on a multimedia CD with a menu-driven user interface. The course teaches the iOS SDK 4.3, including Objective-C 2.0 object-oriented programming language and Xcode 4 IDE under the Cocoa Touch framework. Each student is assumed to have some knowledge of an object-oriented programming language.

Instructor
Osman Balci, Ph.D., professor of computer science and director of the Mobile Software Engineering Lab at Virginia Tech.
