Sheriff of FurnishWEB
From Z. Kelly Queijo:
If FurnishWEB were a town instead of an online data management system for the home furnishings industry, Barry Welch would be sheriff, and FurnishWEB's users, the citizens.
“Sheriff Welch” would keep the town safe, protecting and maintaining its data's integrity and security with thoughtful attention. The character of Sheriff Andy Taylor, from the long-running television series, The Andy Griffith Show, would be the role model for building relationships and maintaining tranquility within the community.
Welch, a long-time fan of Andy Griffith, says, “I like Andy because he reminds me of a simpler time - of honesty and humor and love. I enjoy that my kids can watch it, and get it.”
Framed, pencil sketches of the TV show's three main characters, Andy, Opie, and Barney, hang on the walls of his office. At one time, Welch named the data servers for his company, Internet Databases, after these characters.
Trust and integrity are the hallmarks of Andy Griffith's character and the same can be said of Welch when it comes to running Internet Databases. In business for almost ten years, every sale, whether for custom software development or for FurnishWEB, has come from a referral by someone who knows Welch and uses his software.
The clean and thoughtful design that Welch has put into FurnishWEB shows that he “gets it” when it comes to understanding what his clients need to do their jobs well.
With Sheriff Welch on the job, the citizens of FurnishWEB can go about their lives knowing they (and their data) are well cared for.

The Andy Griffith portraits and the other sketches were the first things that caught me eye as well when I visited Furnishweb.
It is said we surround ourselves with things we value...enough said.
Great article, Kelly.

What a great article, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I'm glad to hear that Barry admires Andy for his honesty and integrity, (not because he is a bachelor! ;-)
